Chora Ganapati Pooja Vidhana/Procedure by Shri Narendra Babu Sharma Guruji

Chora Ganapati Pooja Vidhana/Procedure
Brahmanda Guruji Shri Narendra Babu Sharmaji gave us the procedure on Chora Ganapathi Pooja in his Bruhat Brahmanda programme telecasted in Zee Kannada.
  • There are only 32 forms of Ganapathi in this world.

  • This pooja must be performed secretly, don't invite anyone for this pooja.

  • Take a idol of Lord Ganesha made up of Panchaloha or Clay or Silver. If not possible you can keep Betel leaf (Veeleyada Yele in Kannada; Vetrilai in Tamil) and Arecanut (Adike in Kannada; Paakku in Tamil) or Pillari using cow dung in the form of Lord Ganesha.

  • You will get the blessings of Lord Ganesha in 21days or 32days or 3 months or 3 years depending upon the karma of once individual.

  • Take a Steel Container.

  • First clean the surroundings where you perform this pooja, if you have space in the pooja room do it there otherwise you can do it in the hall.

  • Draw rangoli using Rice flour (Akki hittu) in the form of Nakshatra with six corners. It can be done by drawing a triangle first and then draw a inverted triangle with a small dot/circle at the center.

  • Place the Mane/Flat Wooden Platform on the rangoli.

  • Don't the place the woonden platform to any corner, you should place such that, you should Pradakshina (Sanskrit), meaning circumambulation to Lord Ganesha.

  • The Lord Ganesha idol should face East.

  • You should offer 21 Milk Weed Plant (Bili Yekka in Kannada ; Vellai Erukku in Tamil ; Arka in Sanskrit) if possible, if not atleast two every Tuesdays.

  • You should offer 21 Bermuda Grass (Arugampul in Tamil ; Garike hullu in Kannada) everyday without fail.

  • Clean/Wash Bermuda Grass before offering it to Lord Ganesha.

  • On the wooden platform draw a triangle and inverted triangle to form a nakshatra (star) one with turmeric powder (Arishina in Kannada ; Manjal in Tamil) and other with Vermilion (Kungumam in Tamil ; Kumkuma in Kannada) to form a nakshatra (star) and keep two ghee lamps if possible, if not dont worry about it.

  • This pooja should be carried out in early morning during sun rise between 5:15AM to 6:30AM

  • If you keep Betel leaf (Veeleyada Yele in Kannada; Vetrilai in Tamil) and Arecanut (Adike in Kannada; Paakku in Tamil) or Pillari using cow dung in the form of Lord Ganesha, you should change everyday. Collect it in Steel Container.

  • After offering your prayers, you should take the Lord Ganesha and keep it in steel container, before that offer Gejje vastra [a string prepared using cotton] and close it.

  • All family member can do Pradakshina (circumambulation) to Lord Ganesha.

  • After pradakshina, the person who is doing this prayer should take the steel container containing Lord Ganesha and keep it secretly, no one should know it or no one should touch it.

  • Collect all the Bermuda Grasses in the steel container itself.

  • Everyday morning take out Lord Ganesha from steel container and offer your prayers as said above.

  • After 32days you should immerse Lord Ganesha in any water source.

Sankatahara Ganapati, "the Dispeller of Sorrow," is of sunlike hue, dressed in blue, and seated on a red lotus flower. He holds a bowl of pudding, a goad and a noose while gesturing the boon-granting varada mudra.

He is effulgent like the rising red sun. He has his wife - who is carrying a beautiful lotus, glowing with radiance and bejeweled - sitting on his left lap. He is carrying in one of his right hand a hook (aMkusha) and with the other bestowing boon. He is carrying in one of his left hand a rope and with the other a vessel brimming with sweet soup (pAyasaM). He is seated on a Red Lotus and wearing a blue robe. May such Lord saMkaTahara gaNapati who saves everyone from difficulties save us every day for ever.
He is Red in Color.
"Ganapati who discharges from debts". He has four arms. His hands hold the single tusk, the elephant goad, the noose and the rose-apple fruit.

He is holding a noose, a bow, a wish bestowing creeper and Rose Apple (Eugenia Jambolana) with the four hands on the left side. He is dressed in red clothes. May such durgA gaNapati bestow happiness to us forever.
He is of Golden Color.
"Ganapati similar the Goddess Durgâ". He has eight arms. He is red in colour. His hands hold the single tusk, the elephant goad, the arrow, the rosary, the noose, the bow, the creeper of the votive tree (kalpalatâ) and the rose-apple fruit.

"Ganapati the Ascetic". He has four arms. He is red in colour. His legs are surrounded with the meditation girdle (yogapatta). His hands hold the rosary, the elbow-rest or the walking-stick, the noose and the sugar-cane.

He is holding in his right hands a vINa (Indian lute), a creeper of kalpavRukSha( Tree which can cure all deceases), a discuss and another held in a gesture of granting boons (varada). He is holding in his left hands a lotus, a pot of gems, a flower bunch and another held in a gesture of granting fearlessness (abahaya). He is lion faced with a elephant trunk and shining. His body is shining like a white conch and moon. He is wearing a gem studded shining robe. May such a siMha gaNApati protect us from all dangers.
He is of white color.
"The Lion-face Ganapati". He has eight arms. He is white in colour. His first hand shows the movement which bestow boons (varada). The following hold the disc, the bunch of flowers, the lute (vîna), thez daylight lotus, the jewels pot, the creeper of the votive tree; the last hand shows the movement which removes fear (abhaya).

Trimukha Ganapati, the contemplative "three-faced" Lord of red hue, sits on a golden lotus, telling His beads, holding a noose, goad and vessel of nectar. He gestures protection with a right hand and blessings with a left.

Translation of Mantra:
Meditation on trimuKa (three faces) gaNapti as told in mudgalapurANa.
He carries in two of his right hands a hook which is very sharp and is shining, a rosary and is holding another hand in boon bestowing gesture (varada). He carries in two of his left hands a noose, a urn full of celestial nectar (amruta) and is holding the another hand in gesture of bestowing fearlessness (abhaya). He is seated on shining golden throne with lotus in the center. He has three eyes with elephantine face and he effulgent like the flame of forest flower(bastard teak/butea frondosa). May such trimuKa gaNapati protect us.
He is of Red color.
"The Tree-Head Ganapati". He has six arms. He is red in colour. His first hand shows the movement which gives boons (varada), the four others hols a very sharp elephant goad, a rudrâksha grain of the rosary, the noose and the ambrosia pot (amritakumbha) ; the sixth hand removes the fear (abhaya).

Dvimukha Ganapati, called Janus by the Romans, with two divergent faces, sees in all directions. His blue-green form is dressed in red silk. He wears a bejeweled crown and holds a noose, goad, His tusk and a pot of gems.

He is of green color.
