- What does our fingers and palm signify?
Thumb, often considered not to be a finger : Shukra Amsha.
Index finger, also called 'pointer finger', or 'forefinger' : Guru Amsha.
Middle finger, the longest : Shani Amsha.
Ring finger, also known as fourth finger : Surya Amsha.
Little finger, also known as 'pinky' : Chandra Amsha.
Palm has the Budha, Rahu, Ketu, Kuja Amshas as shown in the image above.
Spoon is shani amsha, if we eat with spoon only shani amsha increases in our body. This is the reason behind using all the fingers and the palm.
All the fingers and the palm are used for thoroughly mixing different food items (for example rice with “Sambar”, “Rasam” (these are typical liquid savories that are consumed with rice in South India).

No, we should use all the fingers and the palm while eating.
Licking of fingers may look odd. For example: If you lick little finger Chandra Amsha increases hence nothing wrong in licking fingers.

We should face East, the direction in which Sun rises while having our food.
- At what time we should have our food?
Between 07:30 to 08:00 AM : Breakfast - Royal Man's Meal.
Between 12:45 to 01:00 PM : Lunch - Middle Man's Meal.
Between 08:00 to 09:00 PM : Dinner - Poor Man's Meal.
You can have something with 3 hours break in between. For example: If have your lunch at 01:00PM you can have something at 04:00PM.
